This treehouse was built from plans found in a book written by David Stiles. He's written three books on treehouses, as well as numerous other hobbyist construction books:

His first book on this topic is "The Tree House Book" which is out of print, though I was able to track down a copy at Bibliofind.com . It has the original plans for the style treehouse I ended up building.
"Playhouses You Can Build : Indoor & Backyard Designs (A Weekend Project Book)" - This is the book that I used to build this treehouse. The instructions are extremely clear, with a nice introduction on the specifics of what materials are required.
David's latest book, "Tree Houses You Can Actually Build", is probably the best of the lot, exclusively devoted to treehouses.

If you can't choose, do what I did... buy all three! (If you become a real treehouse fanatic, you'll also have to get Peter Nelson's two books, "Treehouses,The Art and Craft of Living Out on a Limb" and "Home Tree Home : Principles of Treehouse Construction and Other Tall Tales". These are truly professional treehouses!)
